Stop the demonization of Prof. Jose Maria Sison!

Join us in an appeal to the Dutch government to end its political persecution of a Filipino progressive living in the Netherlands, Professor Jose Maria Sison. He and other Filipino progressives in the Netherlands, including legitimate asylum seekers and recognized political refugees, have fallen victim to draconian measures such as surveillance, raids, control of movement and travel and harassment. The targeted organizations and individuals were in the forefront in dismantling the US-supported Marcos dictatorship. Today they are leading voices against US armed intervention in the Philippines and worldwide.

Sison's bank account has been frozen and his rightful social benefits have been terminated, effectively robbing him and his family of very basic necessities such as food, shelter, and health. They are now threatening to have Sison, a recognized political refugee in the Netherlands, unjustly extradited to the U.S.a move that clearly exposes U.S. interests behind his political persecution. We demand that the Dutch government defy the U.S. government's wish to suppress and silence Professor Sison.

This Thursday P.S. 122 and In Mixed Company present the premiere of Maura Donohue's "Rip It Open", an exhaustive
and athletic examination of each performer's relationship to violence. This series of solos and duets features
choreography by Donohue, lighting design by Frank DenDanto III, costume design by Anh Bui, video and sound design by
Brian Nishii, with performances by Donohue, Peggy Cheng, Nancy Ellis, and Nishii. The program also includes footage
from Maggie Hadleigh-West's explosive film "WarZone" as well as spoken word by regular collaborator Eirene Donohue,
Philadelphia's Yellow Rage and Brooklyn based dynamo Alix Olson.

Inspired by personal experience and Tura Satana ("Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!) "Rip It Open" uses vibrant imagery,
demanding choreography and vigorous dancing to explore the relationship between violence and the individual.
Alternately vicious and humorous, "Rip It Open" examines the intimate acts of destruction that permeate our lives.
Images of aggression such as a relentless barrage against a hanging punching bag, a tirade of violent sexual fantasies
told in a bungee cord enhanced confessional and a celebration of B-movie revenge divas are highlighted against a backdrop of popular music by female artists such as PJ Harvey, Hole & Pamela Means.

"Rip It Open" runs Thu - Sun, Sept. 26 - Sep 29 & Wed. - Sun, Oct 2 - 6 at 8:30pm. Tickets are $17.

Thursday, October 3 will be a special benefit performance and reception, hosted by Slant Performance Group, to raise
funds for In Mixed Company, Inc. The evening will include live performances by Michelle Myers (Yellow Rage) and
Pamela Means during the show and the reception as well as a raffle and silent auction of items including autographed
photos from Tura Satana, subscription to Bust Magazine, etc. Eats and drinks provided by Go Restaurant and Asahi
Beer. Tickets $30.
